Fri night 6pm-9pm

Open Water SSI

COURSE OUTLINE:

A minimum of 30-32 hours of instruction (academic, pool and open water sessions) will be provided during your open water certification. This is in addition to the self-study required prior to academic instruction. Safety, skills development and subject matter expertise will be stressed throughout your training program.

Formal instruction will review the concepts of the self-study guide ensuring that you understand diving fundamentals. Pool exercises will introduce you to these fundamentals and build confidence in your open water skills. A minimum of 4 pool sessions will be conducted. Open water sessions will reinforce your skills. SIX open water dives will be conducted, Two dives will be conducted at blue grotto included in price of course and four dives either at west palm beach or key largo your choice prices will vary.

 

OTWA PROVIDES:

Open Water Manual with dive tables, dive video, use of: on site heated pool, tanks, regulator, BC (buoyancy compensator), certification fees and your certification card. Additional cost will apply for students desiring to complete their open water dives in West Palm Beach, Key Largo or Florida springs.

 

STUDENT INFORMATION:

Students must be at least 10 years old. Ten (10) to FOURTEEN(14) year olds will receive a Junior Open-Water Certification. They will be required to dive with a certified diver over 18 years of age.

All courses require a $100 deposit prior to 48 hours of start date. Academic materials may be purchased in advance for $60.

Cancellation of courses prior to 48 hours of class start date or rescheduling - 50% refund of deposit. Cancellation less than 48 hours will result in loss of deposit.

All courses must have student record file (including medical statement) filled out prior to pool class. Persons over 65 require a health physical.

Students are required to furnish mask, snorkel, fins, fin booties, weight belt, 12 pounds of soft weight . Equipment that isn’t sized properly can distract you from your enjoyment of diving and interfere with the learning process. In some instances, it can actually be unsafe. We strongly encourage you to discuss the suitability of the equipment you own with a member of the OTWA staff prior to the start of class. We would be happy to assist you in the selection of equipment for your class and will provide you with a student discount on your Off The Wall Adventures purchases.

Balance of tuition must be paid prior to the Open Water dives.

Modules 1 and 2 must be read prior to the first class and students must complete all 6 knowledge reviews (at the end of each module) and turn them in prior to completion of the course. Students taking the weekend classes must read the entire manual and complete the knowledge reviews prior to the first class. If academics are not completed prior to the first class, the instructor has the right to reschedule the student.

Please respect your classmates and arrive to class on time. Students must be present during all class/pool sessions.

MISSED CLASSES will be rescheduled for private tutoring before the next scheduled class session or you will be placed in the next available class. You maybe subject to additional fees.

The student is responsible for all equipment that is provided. Rinse the equipment thoroughly in fresh water after each use. BCD’s must be drained completely.

EQUIPMENT LOST OR BROKEN WILL BE REPLACED AT THE STUDENT’S EXPENSE (deposits may be collected).

Weather dictates the pool sessions and open water dives. Schedule changes may have to be made based on weather conditions. Students will not be charged additionally for these types of schedule changes.
